DPV Diver

The Fun Part

Underwater scooters (DPVs – Diver Propulsion Vehicles) are a kick! It’s all fun.
DPVs offer a thrilling way to see a lot of underwater territory in a brief amount of time. They scoot you through the water without kicking. Whether making a shore dive or diving from a boat, a DPV is a great way to see more and have a blast doing it.

Who should take this program?

Are you at least 12 years old, hold an Open Water Diver certification and have seen other people using underwater scooters and want in on the fun? Do you want to further your dive education to be able to cover more distance of the underwater world at a time? Then this program is right for you!

What will you learn?

With the SSI Scooter/DPV Specialty program you will learn the skills and concepts you need to safely plan and conduct dives using scooters or DPVs. Over the 1-2 days of training, through the combination of the academic sessions, the introductory pool/confined water session and the open water training dives your instructor will teach you:

  • The skills needed for the handling of DPVs, such as making safe descents and ascents
  • How to choose and maintain your DPV
  • How to plan dives, including procedures for staying with your buddy
  • Potential problems and ways to deal with them

Upon completion of this program, you will earn the SSI Scooter/DPV Diving specialty certification and be able to dive up to 30 meters deep with a scooter or DPV.

What scuba gear will you use?

You will use and be provided with all the basic scuba equipment needed, including a wetsuit and a DPV. If you have any of your equipment or own a DPV, you are welcome to bring it along to use in the course in order to gain the most personal and useful experience out of it.

What learning materials will you need?

As soon as you enroll in the course you will receive access to the SSI online learning materials for the Scooter/DPV Diving Specialty. The materials combine text and video content for the most effective learning and can be used on the SSI Website/App, and also be downloaded for offline use.

You will also receive some in person academic sessions to ensure you understand the information and to introduce you to the equipment to make sure you are ready and comfortable to enter the open water training dives.

Absolutely professional diving center with multilingual crew and dive masters. Offer Freediving and Scuba. Great spots with – for Greece – a good amount of interesting fish, caves and ancient stuff like marble blocks and amphoras left over from a sunken ship.

Highly recommendable address and a must if you think about diving somewhere around Amorgos!
