Who should take this program?

Are you already a certified freediver, holding at least the Pool Freediver/ Freediver certification and are wanting to learn how to better your diving techniques and learn how to plan your training in a better and more efficient way? Then this course is perfect for you. 

Since you are using smaller muscles in free immersion compared to the rest disciplines it’s easier to relax and focus better on your technique and your equalization. Through extra dry land and in-water training you will increase your breath hold time and will come to explore new depths, to a maximum of 40 meters (20 meters if you only hold the Pool Freediver certification). 

What will you learn?

The Free Immersion programme teaches Freedivers the knowledge and techniques required to safely plan, and conduct Freedivers using both head-up (For Freedivers who have trouble equalizing) and head-down free immersion techniques with a focus on using high quality equipment to increase the safety and efficiency of their freediving abilities. The course can be completed in 1-2 days depending on how intense you wish for your schedule to be.

This course will also focus on relaxation and equalization techniques to help you lengthen the time you spend underwater and the depths you are capable of going to. By the end of this Freediving training programme you will be able to plan your training in a better and a more efficient way and develop the knowledge and skills needed to pull yourself into the deep blue with full confidence and total comfort.

What gear will you use?

You will use and be provided with the same equipment that you already know, a freediving mask, snorkel and fins, as well as a weather appropriate freediving wetsuit. Depending on your starting level you might use other extra accessories for helping perfect your technique. You will also use a freediving safety buoy and lines.

If you have any of your own gear you are welcome to use it or if you are wanting to invest in personal gear, our instructors would be delighted to advise you on the gear most fit for your goals, and our in-house shop also has a selection of freediving gear available for purchase. 

What learning materials will you need?

When you sign up to the course you gain access to SSI Free Immersion online learning materials which are best completed before starting your in-person lessons, including the online exam.The materials can be accessed through SSI Website/App and be downloaded for offline use. You will also receive in-person academic learning sessions, stretching sessions and open water training.
