Take 2 days to learn how to discover the underwater world a single breath at a time
Freediving is the purest form of diving and gives you an incomparable feeling of oneness with the ocean! It allows you to be a silent observer of the underwater world. Come and discover your breath-holding potential and find out why freedivers truly love their sport.
If you have a free day or 2 to spend with us and enjoy snorkeling, but want to learn what it takes to be able to discover more of the underwater world of this planet without having to carry around lots of equipment, then come and try out freediving! Freediving gives you the advantage of being a silent observer beneath the waves and opens you up to a next level of intimate interactions with marine life.Â
Basic Freediving is ideal for those looking to start their true freediving journey. Through the 1 day course you will have academic sessions to gain an introductory but more advanced knowledge of breath hold diving physiology, special breathing techniques and in-water safety. You will also receive in-water training in both confined water and open water to learn how to freedive with a certified buddy down to a depth of 5 meters.
While not as much as scuba diving, freediving still involves the use of some gear. You will use and be provided with a freediving mask, snorkel and fins, as well as a weather appropriate freediving wetsuit. You will also use and learn about a freediving safety buoy and lines.Â
Our instructors would also be delighted to advise you on any personal equipment you are looking to get, and our in-house shop also carries a variety of freediving gear to purchase.Â
When you sign up to the course you gain access to SSI Basic Freediving online learning materials which are a quick introductory read. This can be accessed through SSI Website/App and be downloaded for offline use. You will also receive an in-person academic learning session prior to the in-water activities.Â
The price for the program includes everything needed:

Fantastic experience taking the “Try Freediving” course with Giannis. Instruction was clear, professional, well organized and fun! The shop has a great vibe, so I’m sure you will have a great experience at Amorgos Diving Center no matter what activity you select. Obviously very well-run.
Great diving Center! The team were kind, organised and they knew what they were doing! I did one dive and the experience was fantastic! The equipment is excellent and I would definitely recommend them!
Excellent diving center with a great team and also important: high quality gear! 🙂
Excellent diving center : serious, modern equipment, very nice team and thorough knowledge of Amorgos best diving spot. Giannis K and Dimitris, my freediving instructors were excellent teachers. Thanks a lot!
Amazing people, excellent staff, friendly & generally awesome! Made our experience (me wife & 9yo) on Amorgos so exciting & fun. Thanks to all the instructors & staff we had during our time – they made us all feel so welcome & cared for. Thank you, from Simon, Maddie, Libby & Teddy!
Absolutely professional diving center with multilingual crew and dive masters. Offer Freediving and Scuba. Great spots with – for Greece – a good amount of interesting fish, caves and ancient stuff like marble blocks and amphoras left over from a sunken ship.
Highly recommendable address and a must if you think about diving somewhere around Amorgos!
We offer a wide range of courses for both scuba and freediving. We are sure there is something for everyone!
Freediving is a natural ability for mammals and it also helps develop better breathing habits and relaxation abilities. It is also an incredibly intimate way to discover the underwater world at any corner of our planet without needing to carry around heavy equipment.
